However, please join the church for our Good Friday 1212 Service, a collaborative event with Greenhills, Blessed, and GoodTree. We will share scripture from Luke, participate in communion, and engage in a reflection activity: "the nailing of the cross."

We are jumping to episode 4 to where the series dives into scripture. The previous episodes are plot development. We encourage you to watch them on your own time, but we will give a recap before watching Episode 4.

Episode 4: “The Rock on Which It Is Built”

The Chosen Season 1 Episode 4, "The Rock on Which It Is Built," centers on Simon Peter's debt and his first encounter with Jesus. Desperate after a failed night of fishing, Simon is spied on by the tax collector Matthew. His brother Andrew tells him about Jesus as the Messiah. Jesus appears and, after teaching from Simon's boat, orchestrates a miraculous catch. Overwhelmed, Simon recognizes Jesus and is called to follow him, along with Andrew, James, and John. Matthew witnesses the astonishing event. This episode marks Simon's calling and the beginning of Jesus' core disciples.

This session covers three dimensions of sin — sin done by us, sin done to us, and sin done around us — and explores four layers of sin we move through in our healing: gross sins, conscious sins, unconscious sins, and attachments. Finally, the session covers our part in healing and the practice of confession. Thought the evening may be heavy with content, the event will be a safe space with options to share or to ponder.

Excitement is buzzing as the youth group is preparing for this unique adventure. The CBWC Serve trip is not only a chance to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Whitehorse but also an opportunity to engage in meaningful service projects that will leave a positive impact on the local community.

In the months leading up to the trip, the youth will be doing various fundraising efforts as the trip will cost more expense than typical because of the extended travel to go. The first fundraiser is:

Take your loved one out on a date for Valentines Day and leave your kids with us! Donate what you think is best for the youth, whether you’re able to give 25, 50, 100, or more, the youth are happy to watch your kids and work towards going to Whitehorse!

The kids will have a fun “True Love Themed” night. They will explore what it means to love as Jesus shows us.

TIDINGS & TRIMMINGS

Friday December 6 from 6-9 PM in the Fellowship Hall

Christmas is coming and this is an event to celebrate together! The evening will consist of delicious food, visiting, and some optional Carol-oke! (Christmas Karaoke).

Tickets are $40/adult, $20/child (12 and under), to cover the cost of catering, however, we recognize not everyone can afford this. We hope that everyone will be there, so, we are asking you to pay what you can.

Payment can be made by cash, e-transfer (finance@goodtree.ca), or cheque (to GoodTree Christian Fellowship), a with a note "Tidings + Trimmings Dinner." (Note: ticket purchases are not tax deductible).

Carol-oke is optional. D-groups can sign up together, individuals can sign up to be added to a group, or you can create your own group with family or friends. If you decide not to participate that’s okay, we still want to come for dinner.

If you are wondering what to wear, the evening's theme is "wear what you like." Attire of all kinds is welcomed, ranging from festive Christmas sweaters to elegant attire, to casual jeans and t-shirts. Choose an outfit that brings you joy and makes you feel good.

This event will be a church-wide event where the entire church body is invited (and as always friends too).

We are looking at what it means to authentically love one another through the words of 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

To act on this love we will be packing and sending shoeboxes to Samaritan’s Purse who will then ship them all over the world. The boxes will be sent with the gospel message of Jesus’ love.

Please bring some items to contribute to the shoe-box-packing buffet (Not food, just gifts for the shoeboxes, if you need ideas click here).

In Eyewitness, The Visual Bible Experience we look at the encounter Paul had with Jesus. As Paul journeyed with determination and purpose, a blinding light from heaven suddenly enveloped him, causing him to fall to the ground. In that moment of awe and confusion, he heard a voice saying, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" It was Jesus, reaching out to him with a message of love and transformation.

We will read the Biblical story from the perspective of James in "The Eyewitness Visual Bible”. The story describes Jesus' ascension (going up to heaven) and his promise of the Holy Spirit, which would enable his followers to spread the gospel. It talks about how both James and Jesus were fearless. We will examine this as we fearlessly jump on trampolines and experience the weightlessness of jumping up to the heavens.:)

He suffered and died so that we can know just how much the Father (God) loves us. We will reflect on this as we create cross keychains from nails.

The "Eyewitness Visual Bible Experience" presents an artistic depiction the final meal Jesus shared with his apostles before his crucifixion. Because of this last supper, we regularly remember in the act of communion. We will look at the story together, discuss communion in more detail, while preparing and enjoying a lovely meal together.

We take a look at the story of “Jesus is The Vine” through the eyes of Jesus in The Eyewitness Visual Bible Experience. We explore the spiritual relationship between Jesus and his followers and the imagery of the vine and branches that bring the biblical story to life. This chapter highlights Jesus's teachings about being connected to him as the true vine and producing good fruit in our lives. It emphasizes the importance of remaining in Christ and staying faithful to his teachings.

Jesus' love rises above and beyond even your highest expectations. It floats while everything else sinks. Peter lived his life close to Jesus and close to the water. We will take a look at some of the stories near the water and what it means to remain close to Jesus.

This is the last “Friday Night” youth event for this school year. We will be out by the lake at the Ritchies home in Chestermere. We will meet in Chestermere at 6:30 PM (anyone who needs a ride from the church please let Angela know 403-560-2688, we have limited space so you must RSVP for a ride). The Ritchie’s address will be sent out in the weekly e-mail.

This is not officially a youth event, everyone is invited to experience a fun night with a free concert by a band from Nigeria.

The concert will be in the Sanctuary of 1212 1 Street NW. There is no cost, an optional free-will offering will be taken as a gift to the band.

Jesus had a heart-to-heart with Nicodemus, diving into the concept of being "born again" and shining a light on rebirth through belief in Him. Jesus explains that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. This passage captures the essence of Christianity - the precious gift of salvation through belief in Jesus Christ.

Feel free to read John 3:1-21 to familiarize yourself with the passage before the event.
