Churchwide Christmas Party

TIDINGS & TRIMMINGS

Friday December 6 from 6-9 PM in the Fellowship Hall

Christmas is coming and this is an event to celebrate together! The evening will consist of delicious food, visiting, and some optional Carol-oke! (Christmas Karaoke).

Tickets are $40/adult, $20/child (12 and under), to cover the cost of catering, however, we recognize not everyone can afford this. We hope that everyone will be there, so, we are asking you to pay what you can.

Payment can be made by cash, e-transfer (finance@goodtree.ca), or cheque (to GoodTree Christian Fellowship), a with a note "Tidings + Trimmings Dinner." (Note: ticket purchases are not tax deductible).

Carol-oke is optional. D-groups can sign up together, individuals can sign up to be added to a group, or you can create your own group with family or friends. If you decide not to participate that’s okay, we still want to come for dinner.

If you are wondering what to wear, the evening's theme is "wear what you like." Attire of all kinds is welcomed, ranging from festive Christmas sweaters to elegant attire, to casual jeans and t-shirts. Choose an outfit that brings you joy and makes you feel good.

Shoebox Packing (Church-wide Event)

This event will be a church-wide event where the entire church body is invited (and as always friends too).

We are looking at what it means to authentically love one another through the words of 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

To act on this love we will be packing and sending shoeboxes to Samaritan’s Purse who will then ship them all over the world. The boxes will be sent with the gospel message of Jesus’ love.

Please bring some items to contribute to the shoe-box-packing buffet (Not food, just gifts for the shoeboxes, if you need ideas click here).

Glow in The Dark Volleyball

This event will be at the church.

In Eyewitness, The Visual Bible Experience we look at the encounter Paul had with Jesus. As Paul journeyed with determination and purpose, a blinding light from heaven suddenly enveloped him, causing him to fall to the ground. In that moment of awe and confusion, he heard a voice saying, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" It was Jesus, reaching out to him with a message of love and transformation.

Read Acts 7-9, 13-18, 21-28 to familiarize yourself with the passages before the event.

Trampoline Park (Registration Required)

The event is extended from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM due to the booking at the trampoline park. Check the youth's e-mail for directions.

We will read the Biblical story from the perspective of James in "The Eyewitness Visual Bible”. The story describes Jesus' ascension (going up to heaven) and his promise of the Holy Spirit, which would enable his followers to spread the gospel. It talks about how both James and Jesus were fearless. We will examine this as we fearlessly jump on trampolines and experience the weightlessness of jumping up to the heavens.:)

We take a look at the story of doubt and belief in "The Eyewitness Visual Bible Experience" through the eyes of Thomas who expressed disbelief in the resurrection stating, "Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."   We will examine “seeing is believing” as we find Jesus in a fun Where’s Jesus game!

The "Eyewitness Visual Bible Experience" presents an artistic depiction the final meal Jesus shared with his apostles before his crucifixion. Because of this last supper, we regularly remember in the act of communion. We will look at the story together, discuss communion in more detail, while preparing and enjoying a lovely meal together.

We take a look at the story of “Jesus is The Vine” through the eyes of Jesus in The Eyewitness Visual Bible Experience. We explore the spiritual relationship between Jesus and his followers and the imagery of the vine and branches that bring the biblical story to life. This chapter highlights Jesus's teachings about being connected to him as the true vine and producing good fruit in our lives. It emphasizes the importance of remaining in Christ and staying faithful to his teachings.

This event is a highlight of the year. It is a trip where the youth gather with youth across western Canada to eat, serve, worship, and learn together.

Early bird registration through April 30 – $290 and goes up at the beginning of May – $350. Don’t let cost be an inhibitor, we will do fundraising and other efforts to support the youth. (When you register note that you are with Crescent Heights Baptist Church Youth Group as we do not have the new church set up yet)

Jesus' love rises above and beyond even your highest expectations. It floats while everything else sinks. Peter lived his life close to Jesus and close to the water. We will take a look at some of the stories near the water and what it means to remain close to Jesus.

This is the last “Friday Night” youth event for this school year. We will be out by the lake at the Ritchies home in Chestermere. We will meet in Chestermere at 6:30 PM (anyone who needs a ride from the church please let Angela know 403-560-2688, we have limited space so you must RSVP for a ride). The Ritchie’s address will be sent out in the weekly e-mail.

Heart of Stone - An Accused Woman

A woman is accused of adultery and is about to be stoned to death, until Jesus intervenes. We will take a walk down to the river and throw some stones into the water. As we do, we will discuss looking at ourselves before judging others. We will also see how compassionate Christ is and build an inukshuk to remember that he has taught us how to love.

Jonah was not happy to tell the Ninevites of The Lord’s pending doom, he knew that God was gracious and compassionate, and may forgive them if they turned from their wicked ways. We look at how the story often focuses on the giant fish, but there is more than a splash to this crazy story.

A Time for Everything - Solomon - Drop The Mic - Poetry Night

We look at the famous poem that King Solomon wrote about a time and a season for everything.

Feel free to read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, 13 to familiarize yourself with the passage before the event.

The night will consist of:
