Why Before How - Every Student Sunday

Aug 24, 2025    Tyler Graftaas

I have yet to hear a parent say, “I want my kid(s) to fail in life.” If I did, it would cause great concern. What I mostly hear is something like, “I want my kid(s) to be successful, productive members of society. I want them to be kind and loving. I want them to stand up for themselves.” But these are subjective terms, what one person considers to be productive or kind another might see differently.

This Sunday, a week before school starts, we will celebrate summer ministry amongst our students, and pray specifically for them as they head back to school. We will hear testimonies of God’s work amongst them and the work he is doing through Power2Change on campuses in Calgary. And we are going to contemplate what it means to be successful in raising the next generation, a task specifically given to us by God, which, according to scripture, is the most important one of all.
